Who We Are For

Davidov Architects is a Melbourne-based residential architecture and interiors studio. We work across inner Melbourne and Victoria, as well as selected Australian city centres.

Our work regularly includes the City of Melbourne, Stonnington, Boroondara, Glen Eira, Bayside, and the Mornington Peninsula Shire, along with regional and coastal settings across Victoria including the Bellarine Peninsula, and selected projects in regional and urban Australian centres.

We design new homes, alterations and additions, renovations and extensions, heritage-sensitive upgrades, rural and coastal homes, and selected multi-residential projects for private clients and boutique developers.

We design architecture where atmosphere is the primary outcome.

Atmosphere is not a layer applied at the end. It is formed early, then protected, as the design is refined. It lives in proportion and sequence, in thresholds and pauses, in framed viewlines and borrowed light, in shadow, depth, and the quiet drama of how a home reveals itself through the day and across seasons.

Our work is often described as contemporary or modern, and sometimes as minimalist. We treat these terms as shorthand. What matters to us is clarity and restraint in the service of lived experience, so a home feels calm and resolved at completion and becomes more familiar, more convincing, and more generous as years pass.

Clients come to us in different ways. Some arrive with construction experience and clear references. Others are working with an architect for the first time and want guidance, reassurance, and a calm process. Both can be an excellent fit. Design literacy is not required. What matters is a shared intention to build something coherent, enduring, and rewarding to live with.

We work with a wide range of clients and life stages: young couples and families shaping long-term homes, empty nesters and retirees consolidating into a final residence, and boutique developers, often with an intention to live in the project themselves. Many clients come to us through referral or by encountering a completed project. Repeat clients are common, built on trust and a shared appetite for refinement.

The relationship is collaborative. Clients make the final decisions, with our guidance. We explain the reasoning behind design decisions, particularly when multiple considerations are being balanced. Early in the process we often use high-level 3D visualisation to clarify scale, materiality, light, and spatial connection, so decisions feel grounded and calm. Some clients enjoy understanding the thinking behind each move. Others simply want confidence in the direction and the outcome. We support both.
