Coastal Architecture Across Australia

We are based in Melbourne and take on selected projects in Byron Bay, Northern NSW and Queensland. Depending on scope and jurisdiction, we collaborate with local architects and consultants where required, while remaining closely involved to protect the integrity of the design.

Davidov Architects works with coastal contexts across Australia, bringing the same careful attention to atmosphere, light, spatial sequence and material longevity that defines our work in Melbourne and Victoria. Our approach responds to the specific conditions of place, orientation and climate so that homes feel calm, coherent and deeply connected to their setting.

Coastal environments present unique opportunities and challenges, from shifting light over open horizons to weather patterns that shape how spaces perform over time. Whether it is a thoughtful adaptation of an existing home or a new residence by the water, we design with an understanding of how sequence, proportion and light shape lived experience.

An example of this is our involvement with the Bedarra Island Villa in Queensland, where open plan spaces and extensive connections to deck, landscape and ocean allow light and viewlines to shape the architecture’s atmosphere. Perched near the water’s edge on East Bedarra Island, the villa’s design responds to its tropical setting, embracing shifting light, coastal breezes and outlook across turquoise waters adjacent to the Great Barrier Reef.

Across Byron Bay, Queensland and other coastal regions we are engaged with projects such as Ewingsdale Residence that require an architecture attuned to seaside life, working with natural light, horizon lines and material resilience so that each home feels resolved and enduring.

We are proud to have completed Ewingsdale Residence in New South Wales & Bedarra Island Villa in Queensland.
